Do you have trouble with the leather strap on the Slickersack that slides down
onto the upright part of the Mark's Rack contacting the hanger for the straddle
wire on your front brake? If so, any ideas for a solution?

Unfortunately the Randonneur Hyper appears to be available only in 700c.
I've been riding the Randonneur Pro in 26x1.5 (ie 559-40). The tire is good
for commuting but somewhat heavy. The vittoria site says its 450g, but mine
weigh 510g. I'm not weight obsessed, but the tire does feel slow.

Has anyone tried the Maxxis Overdrive? 700x38 and a decent tread
design. I've used the 700x35 Maxxis Locust cross tire for quite a
while which is great off road and decent on road.
I really would prefer a 700x40 or bigger for my Hillborne all
rounder. Just not many choices out there except for Sc

Maybe OT, but someone on another cycling list I follow posted this
today, and I thought it would be of interest to those of us who live
in the SF Bay Area. I will definitely check this out next time I'm
riding in the East Bay! Her message is below.

On my 66cm QB with the Mini Front there is ample clearance for the hanger
without having to add spacers and such. However, as Jim suggests, it would
probably be an easy matter to add enough a bit more room with a spacer if
necessary.
Aloha!

Nice. That reminds me, there is another cool little place along the
Tunitas Creek called the Bike Hut. They have dried fruits, drinks and
such, as well as a little picnic area:

In mapping out routes, I've noticed big differences in both distance

Can't compare web to GPS, but I've found over the years that both

I always figured it was the other way around. Web-based mapping will
not count climbing (or the non-horizontal component of distance
traveled) because of the coarseness of digital elevation maps. For
example, if the topo model has 10-foot contour intervals, how does the
mapping software deal with a

Mikey,
I used the Maxxis Overdrive tires on my Trek 520 for several years. This is my
touring and sometimes commuter bike. It was always very rough and harsh over
bumps, nothing like my Rambouillet so I just wrote it off to the heavy and
stiff frame. Even riding with very low tire pressures (<5
Heading out to the east bay for a visit in April. We plan on
stopping by Jitensha and Riv. What's the best place to get a decent
Rivish type rental and what's a good ride out in Walnut Creek? Thanks
in advance!

I have no clue about renting, but I ride by this fine shop on a very
regular basis. And Peet's is a few doors down. They are at the foot

There was supposed to be one in Boulder, CO, this year but something
