I wasn't sure if everyone in the group was subscribed to RBW's email
updates. It is relatively sparodic, but this one has some really
interesting comments about bicycle models, so I thought I'd copy my copy
here.

I rode in lycra for the first time in a while yesterday...the bid
shorts caused more problems than they were worth. Just got another
pair of Musa shorts, I won't be replacing the lycra, it's not doing it

is a combination gravel and pavement. Approximately 20 miles out and
back from Mission Blvd. to Coyote Hills Regional Park. The park has a
nice picnic area and a free, small natural history museum.

Four of us rode 135 miles from Davis to San Francisco via Napa, Sonoma,
Petaluma, Fairfax and Sausalito on the day after Thanksgiving. Despite
forecasts of 50-90% chance of showers, we never got rained on, and in fact
enjoyed fantastic Fall weather.

I've always just used standard Gorilla Glue. Once set, you'll never get them
off without destroying them. Oh, I once used a spray adhesive. That worked
also. Never came loose.

try beeswax melted into hemp twine. Wax the twine first, wrap it on, then go

what the finish is). I suppose you could coat it in marine spar vanish for

I've used 3M's super 77 spray adhesive twice now, but that's mostly because
I had a can in the basement. Downside is overspray, but that tends to clean
up pretty easy with mineral spirits as long as you catch it early enough.

In that case, I'd try the paste wax. Easy to touch up, too.
You could try one thin coat of shellac on the cork, then paste wax on top of
that as well.

I've used Gorilla glue twice now and have not had them come loose. If
you don't want them coming off unexpectedly use Gorilla glue. Extreme
wet or temperatures might cause lesser adhesives to fail. If using a
one piece stem you have to carve them off to change bars, brake levers
etc. unless of cour
The look can be modified with wood stains before shellacking. The
initial feel can be a little tacky at first but soon smooths out as
you ride them. I wouldn't use wax, it can be slippery when really cold
(think downhill skis) and melts to a gooey mess in the extreme heat.
