The look can be modified with wood stains before shellacking. The initial feel can be a little tacky at first but soon smooths out as you ride them. I wouldn't use wax, it can be slippery when really cold (think downhill skis) and melts to a gooey mess in the extreme heat. What I want in a grip is well....grip! Thats my opinion and I'm "sticking" to it! I'll almost bet Grant and gang thought this one through at least a little bit and considered other options.
