I ride in chacos almost all the time and love them. I will attest to the
thickness issue though, it's always annoying when I choose to ride in flip
flops or regular shoes (which is pretty rare here in Austin). I'm still trying
to find the perfect closed toe shoes to ride in.

I have trouble with my Chacos, too, but for a different reason: the soles are
so much thicker than my other shoes that my pedal stroke is affected. I'm too
lazy to raise and then lower my saddle 1/4" every time. They're still my go-to

I have had terrible luck with my Chaco sandals recently. It's like my foot
has changed shape and the straps just dig into my foot at various points
eventually causing blisters. They used to work well for riding, but now I
barely ever put them on for even walking. My feet are a mess though. I cal
My sneaker pedals work great with everything except bare feet.
Leather-soled shoes aren't too great either, but it's doable. At some point

In summer I usually wear crocs. Great on platform pedals, worthless on

Known in some circles as "safari boots". Those are great with clips/straps
and MKS GR-9s. In fact, if it weren't for hot weather, and if it were not
as much or more of a hassle to put on my safari boots as/than putting on my
SPD or Look shoes, that would be my pedal/shoe combination of choice.

20 miles (5 mile detour! IRC, I detoured so that I could do most of the
miles on the bike path and avoid some of the road traffic) home from work
wearing leather-soled Bass or somesuch loafers on M540s or somesuch on a

Steger and I do not get along. I destroyed their "heartiest" mukluks in a
