When I purchased a used Saluki, it came with a rear VO rack that was bolted to the fender & bottom eyelets, but not to the brake bridge. It seemed stable but in fact had just enough lateral flex, even without a load to stress the fender. I don't think I would be comfortable with a front rack

Yes, i did. They were fixed to the rack and daruma, the rack could still move a bit because of the flat strut being flexy, so the fender broke. I drilled a hole in the strut right in front of the fork crown, bolted the fender to it and put some tape on the gap in the fender. I will put some hamm

Yes, when I got my Mark's Rack in 2011 I didn't like the way that mounting it over the top of the brake put the rack so high up. So I pounded the tang straight, drilled a hole through it and the metal fender, put them on a fork-crown daruma, and then a nylon locknut to hold it all together. Th

If you have mid-fork braze ons, you should run both sets of struts to the mid fork braze on. That way, it's actually a triangle. On Monday, August 11, 2014 4:36:58 AM UTC-7, Michael Hechmer wrote: > > Wouldn't having struts to the cantis (in my case Racer) studs and to > blades make it awkwar

Thanks for that picture. That setup is almost there! It would be much more sturdy with a second set of struts. On Monday, August 11, 2014 6:52:24 AM UTC-7, Shoji Takahashi wrote: > > Hi Bill, > Jeremy Spencer did this on his AHH (but not the double-struts): > > https://www.flickr.com/photos/ka

Hi Bill, Jeremy Spencer did this on his AHH (but not the double-struts): https://www.flickr.com/photos/kaptainamerika/4464220134/in/set-72157612913410038 And yes to the metal fenders. IIRC, some listers have done something similar with front racks bolting to metal fenders and using a metal bridge

Wouldn't having struts to the cantis (in my case Racer) studs and to blades make it awkward to even open the brakes, let alone adjust them? I never carry much weight upfront so doubt it would be necessary. Michael On Sunday, August 10, 2014 7:25:18 PM UTC-4, justin...@gmail.com wrote: > > I've

I've always wanted to try using the Canti-attachment rods and run them double strut style to cantis or Paul Racer studs. Perhaps I will soon -J On Sunday, August 10, 2014 3:58:05 PM UTC-7, Bill Lindsay wrote: > > I think it's a neat idea. I have Mark's rack on two bikes, and will let > you

I think it's a neat idea. I have Mark's rack on two bikes, and will let you know if I try it. If you run double-struts (which I highly recommend), then the cleanest setup would be no diving board at all. With double struts, all the load is supported by the triangle, so the only thing you nee
