I think you're on the right track. Have ridden a Bleriot and they are nice bikes. And the Bombadil is different enough to make the two compliment each other. As an aside - the Rawland is a nice bike. Have seen one disc Sogn that the owner has 3 sets of wheels - 700C for fast road rides, 650B f

No, you're not correct. If anything, tires are trending towards fatter. 10 years ago it was the tail end of the semi slick racer boy tires trend. Now it's all about 2.3" ~ 2.5" monster knobby tires. Perhaps a mountain bike trend Riv can support? :) Eric D Dublin, OH On Fri, Sep 25, 2009 at 7:56 P

Agreed. It turns out that fancy shocks are more profitable than plain old air. ; ) On Sep 25, 7:56 pm, PATRICK MOORE wrote: > Am I correct in thinking it is not just my imagination that, in the last 10 > years or so of perfected bike suspension, mtb tires have gotten skinny and > hard again? >

What size are you looking at? I may have missed it, but that would help in the advice department. I am running a Rawland Disc Sogun for the last year, for much the same reason you are looking at the Bombadil. The catch is I put 700 x 42 on it not 650 B. Primarily because I had a really nice wh

Am I correct in thinking it is not just my imagination that, in the last 10 years or so of perfected bike suspension, mtb tires have gotten skinny and hard again? I always notice how thin OEM tires look on susp bikes, compared to the 60s that I ride. -- Patrick Moore Albuquerque, NM For professi

Full-suspension can be amazing, especially the way they make them these days, but it can be a bit overkill for 9 out of 10 of mountain bikers. I recently got a rigid mountain bike (Salsa Ala Carte) with super fat knobbies, and it's perfect. Simple, fun, and challenging in the right way. Mounta

Get the Bombadil. Trying to have one bike cover both road and mountain--if you do both regularly--can be a hassle. You'll be switching out wheels, fenders, racks, whatever, when you go from one to the other. And if your bikes are like mine, one always needs something to get fixed on it, so it's goo

Keep the Bleriot-- it is going to be a challenge to replace it if you regret selling it down the road (which is sounds like you will). I dont see an advantage to getting the Atlantis over the Bomba. Bleriot and Bomba is a great one/two combo. And it sounds like you are 95% sure you want the Bomba.
