Don't make the assumption that 26" wheels don't feel great on the road. My All-Rounder with 26" wheels and Pasela 26 x 1.25 tires is as fast as any of my 700C wheeled road bikes. Given that I coast downhill faster than most of my friends on their 700 x 23s, I figure the rolling resistance of these tires is good enough. Unfortunately there are few good road tires for 26", most of them having rubber about 1/4" thick for some reason.
