Full-suspension can be amazing, especially the way they make them these days, but it can be a bit overkill for 9 out of 10 of mountain bikers. I recently got a rigid mountain bike (Salsa Ala Carte) with super fat knobbies, and it's perfect. Simple, fun, and challenging in the right way. Mountain biking seems to be coming full circle toward simpler bikes with 1x9er's, rigid frames, cross-ish bikes, etc. Anyone can bomb gnarly rock formations on full-susp., but it's a ton more fun on a rigid bike to pick your line and clean a tricky stretch of trail. And with disc brakes you can put on much fatter tires and run low low pressure, that's all the suspension anyone needs.
That said, +1 on having bikes for different types of riding...having 1 do-everything bike is a compromise that may feel like a compromise. What's the harm in having 2 (or more), something roadish and something rougher, both versatile. Get the Bomba, keep the Bleriot. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
