I also use noodles with an 80mm stem. Brass right at seat height and would
describe the fit the same way, just about right. On my quick beam with Albas I
use a 110 stem and they are just about perfect.

I'm fine...and embarrassed to admit that I crashed again the very next
day, in the very same manner. Going down hill on a slick trail the
front tire slips out and I face plant into the mud. I was wearing
tights and a rain jacket the next day so it didn't look quite as
messy. I didn't tempt fate
Ouch! I saw that photo. Glad you are ok Rob!

The recent discussion of Brooks saddle reminded me (and my sponsor) that I
still need to address my hoarding problem of Rivendell bicycles and related

I have sidepulls on a romulus and paul centerpulls on a AHH. I think I'm
somewhat partial to the centerpulls. They seem to leave a little more space
for fenders, etc -however I've found they are a bit more finicky to setup
than the sidepulls.
Having said that, once you get them setup they feel mor
Originally I put a pair of Campy Grand Sports on my Ram. They're great

This is a very useful tool: http://yojimg.net/bike/web_tools/stem.php
When I had custom stems made by Salsa, back when they still made steel
quill stems and before the web, I'd make cardboard templates that gave me a
suitable precise idea of the new stem's rise and reach.
