I have been offered a pair of 7 speed Shimano indexed shifters and a pair of Tektro long pull levers (thanks Ryan and Nicholas), so I have all I need to complete this rebuild. Much thanks to all who offered help and advice.
Photo when done. It ought to look, and ride, well, back from the dead compared to its original state. I hope to have some giveaways shortly myself and will offer it onlist first.
