I use the new Toplight line steady tail light. The horizontal bar
helps drivers judge distance and it is as bright as any auto tail
light. I also use a Princeton Tec Swerve on my helmet ( the switch is
easy to manipulate when riding with winter gloves) that I turn on
when I suspect a driver is not
Agreed. Don't forget the ever wonderful BART transit. More than able
to cut a few hours of your day to get to the beautiful places of the
bay area quicker. When in March are you planning to visit? If I'm
free, I wouldn't mind showing you guys some prime ride around the
area.

the help of clubman wax, which smelled pleasant was reasonably easy to
use
I usually find the goathead(s) in a flat tire the next day.
FWIW tubeless works great riding through a patch. Pick 'em out and
keep riding. That's the #1 reason I went that way on my 29er.

Forgot to add: I am skeptical about Foss's being proof against goatheads,
but if they are, I will ante up if Riv carries them for 60 mm tires.
I find that fat tires attract more thorns than skinnies, tho' whether this
is due to the width or because fat tires get ridden in thornier places, I
dunno.
The crucial test will be to run over a plot of goatheads, coming out on the
other side with scores sticking into your tires: if after two days you find
no air loss, Foss tubes are proof against the thorns.
Note that very often when you run over a goathead it will go in only part
way and, if you do

I look at it as the baseline for the rest of my safety gear - no matter
what, it's on the bike, i don't have to worry about the batteries wearing

I've got a Sugino triple crankset to sell. It's an OEM model, that came on
a $1000 Specialized road bike. It has 172.5mm arms. It's got a 130mm BCD
for the large and middle chainrings and a 74mm BCD for the small ring. It
comes with a 52/42/30 chainrings. The large and middle ring are Sugin
Campy grease.

accept reflectors. I agree that the "bobbing up and down" or flashing (if
the tape is installed at the bb axle junction) appearance signals "bike".
