Have Marathon Winter 700x40 on one bike (not the Hillborne) under the
regular SKS fenders. They fit. Barely. They "should" work on the
newer Hillbornes. The tires seem to run true to size.

I have finally admitted to myself that my 58 orange Rambouillet could
be a tad bigger. On the off chance, WTT for a 60. Specific details
if requested. A few scratches but very presentable. Currently built
w/ Campy 10-speed Centaur, which I assume I will un-build.

I did the spreading on a raleigh international myself and it was seen as
forbidden for desecrating a classic frame and riv was really against it
although it was pretty simple and my lbs realigned the drops real in two
minutes but that was a 300 dollar frame not 1k

I am 5'11", PBH 86-87.
I ride a 56 Sam which fits me very well, but I wouldn't want the
standoverany higher.
If I was looking for a Hunq I would need to ride one first, which you
may not be easily able to do.

I suggest the 700x35 for added snow clearance. I can't see any significant
advantage to the 700x40 for winter riding. I've been running the 700x38
Snow Stud (on a Surly Cross-check). There was no logic in that choice,
except that I sold out of Marathon Wionter tires, and had the Snow Stud
left
