Have Marathon Winter 700x40 on one bike (not the Hillborne) under the
regular SKS fenders.  They fit.  Barely.  They "should" work on the
newer Hillbornes.  The tires seem to run true to size.

Will agree with Jim the 35s will give extra snow clearance. However,
both my winter bikes have the widest studded tires I could cram in
there.
