Rick, The ps/grep gives me 1644 ?S 0:00 supervise qmail-smtpd 25761 pts/3R 0:00 grep smtp That doesn't help me or you :-( The db eats memory 'cos it's Oracle. That's fine - it's supposed to. But the mail volume on the whole isn't great - I think the box should cope. The SMT

Tim, when the server hangs or freezes and you have top open, what is your load average? I've had the this problem on kernel 2.4 kernels with SpamAssassin installed and the problem was that I had to many incoming concurrent connections and my hard drives couldn't keep up with SA so the load average

Seems too coincidental - two years with uptimes only punctuated by power outages: install qmail-scanner/spamassasin/razor etc and now we have crashed/hung/frozen whatever three times in a week. Tim Clarke -Original Message- From: Certainty Tech-Ed [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 28 April

Thanks, Jim. I've left a "top" running in a terminal session to see if there's something peaky left on the screen - is there a better way of tracing process usage up to the incident? Tim Clarke -Original Message- From: Jim Maul [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 28 April 2004 14:24 To: Tim

My recently installed qmail-scanner 1.21 under RH7.3 seems to be a problem. The box it's on has been running stable qmail 1.03 for two years and now freezes every other day. It'll respond to pings but that's it. The qmail-scanner log shows a reversing timestamp (the log part included shows the 100
