Your best bet is probably GARNOME, http://www.gnome.org/~jdub/garnome.
It will allow you to very easily build GNOME 2.2 completely
independently of an existing GNOME 2.0 install, without having to worry
about downloading and configuring all the packages and dependencies
manually.

The problem I'm seeing is when I select GNOME (vs. KDE) at the graphical
login screen, applications like gnome-terminal start chewing up memory
resources at an astounding rate. Example:
[scowles@voyager news]$ ps aux | grep gnome-terminal
scowles 25516 3.4 7.4

Hello,
I've just recently installed redhat 8.0, and I jould like to start
developing in gnome. However, it isn't quite clear to me what I have to
go. I am particularly interested in working with the gnome-print library.
Thanks,
John

You'll have to replace the file
/usr/share/pixmaps/redhat-main-menu.png

No I mean the whole bar: icons, tasklist, clock and all. In GNOME 1.xx
you could tell GNOEM to center it and it would grow as you added icons
and such.

x27;all. The menu bar at the bottom -- how do I center it?
I can do it in the less favored KDE, but am curious how to do it in
GNOME. I could easily do it in the non-RedHat GNOME 2.xx from the
internet (like for my FreeBSD box for example).
Thanks much!

I'm trying to migrate from redhat 7.2 to 8.0. Currently I have a gnome
applet written in perl. Sadly it seems that Gtk-Perl no longer includes
applet support, so I can't run this applet. Also the swallowed app
function from gnome 1.4 is no longer available, so I can't write a

Somehow that fixed it!

I found when that happens I go into Sound Events. Then disable all events
then apply. And then re-enable them again and apply.
I use KDE, I guess that Gnome should be similar.
