In Gnome 1.4, there was a place in the Gnome control panel where you could uncheck "Use Gnome to Control Background". Is there somewhere you can do that too in Gnome2 ?
I think Nautilus takes control of the background in psyche. Open a
Nautilus window, Edit->Preferences->Desktop & Trash->Use Nautilus to
draw the desktop.
hope this helps,
true,
but that also removes Trash, Start-Here, Home and other links put on the desktop (until you turn it back on in nautilus)
