Just curious if there is a way to decompile a driver.o file to get the
.c and .h files?
I figure if I can do this I might be able to get the FastTrak to work
in 8.0
Thanks,
Justin

I got no takers on these questions on the valhala list. Maybe here I will do
better.
What is gained by this more complicated owner option as opposed
to the precious user option for allowing a user to mount a cd? I can't
see any advantage to this arrangement.
The related question is their any seri
Anyone want to share how in the world they were able to install
UT2003 (Unreal Tournament 2003) on RH 8. I'm having repeated
lock ups after doing a ./linux_installer.sh
I will get as far as writing some of the files, then the installer skips

Thanks for the input.
Although the divx4linux is the same thing I downloaded
from divx.com, I had not tried the freshmeat rpm.
So I installed it now, and still, I get the following
output when trying to view this avi file:
demux_avi: unknown avi format DX50

I want to thank all of you for helping me. I got it working. During the course of adding a second drive to my machine, I had to reboot. Upon reboot, I was able to rebuild the DB (I think because the processes like rhn, etc. were not active yet.) It would still lock up when doing a mass rpm
Packages from freshrpms.net work like a charm for me, didn't have to

Using 5.0.6a here.. haven't had any special problems with it (the same

How do I get this to work ?
I have downloaded the divx 5 codec from divx.com,
but I still have no luck.
Either I need something else, I'm not referencing
the codecs (.so files in /usr/local/lib/ ) correctly
or I'm thinking of this the wrong way.
Can anyone give me any pointers ?

Do ATI (or other vendors) open-source drivers support hardware 3D

I would like to know why you must use drivers provided by the
manufacter? From my experience i used to have a tnt2 card i used nvidia
drivers with and had x problems from time to time. I now use a ati
radeon 7000 which performs better. and is more stable with x using the
drivers included in x whi
Kill all rpm related processes (like up2date, rhn-applet, etc.), then 'rm
/var/lib/rpm/__db*'.
