Is there a button on the tool to make the rules active? If not it's more or less a total loss from a convenience standpoint. I'd look to /etc/sysconfig/iptables. If it is present check its time stamp. That is the file that should be edited for the standard Red Hat setup. If it has changed recently

An update - made a driver disk from the rh 8.0 cdrom: \dos\utils\rawrite drvblock.img a: Trying to install it,I get a message that it failed to mount the driver disk - not a valid driver disk for this version. I noticed someone else with the same problem posting here (Subject: Installing RH8.0).
