Removing the mounting ring is not dificult but to fix anything you
probably need to get to the aperture blades and that is not easy for
someone with no experience. You also should practice with some cheaper
prime lens (like a 50mm F2.0), zoom lenses are a lot more complicated.

I have the A50/1.4, A50/1.7, A50/2 and A50/2.8 Macro. The A50/2 feels
a bit cheap, the A50/1.7 a bit less so, the f/1.4 and f/2.8 Macro
feel like high quality lenses. I hope the A50/1.2 has the same high
quality feel as the f/1.4 and f/2.8.
Performance-wise, the A50/2 is the poorest perform

Naturally a Powerzoom will work on the *ist D. It's an FA lens. Of course
the zoom motor won't work - since there's no power supply for it. But you
can still zoom manually.
