Okay, first of all don't install the firm wear on the archos that comes w/ the unit, that's not acessible. Rockbox isv very accessible, I've used my player w/ it and w/o it. Its easy to install. If you go to their web site there is a FAQ for blind users. I have the Archos studio 20 recorder. ---

Rob, I don't understand. How did you get the talking folder and file names working without going through the main menu. The only way to turn those options on to my knowledge is via those menus, but you say the menus are not talking for you? F1 is definitely the correct key. There are 3 skinny
