The automatic level control is under the options menu. Make sure you're
recording in software, not soundboard mode in recording source and
parameters, also in the options menu. And, if you're using Windows 7, there
are settings that can make recordings sound very bad, but I can't remember
them

know which one works best. There are apparently a lot of converters out
there though. And of course, you could always just play the file and record
it with another program like Total Recorder.

chips. The main difference is the speakers. And since you'll be using
external speakers, it shouldn't really matter which laptop you get. I'd
forget about the sound chip and concentrate on the other specs. I personally

sounds so they won't get in the recording, but I've never had it change the

Well, to be fair to the other posters, I did ask for a free tool. DVD Audio
Extractor does work, and it's accessible. If you do this a lot, it's
probably easier to use this 1-step process than the 2 steps of DVD Shrink
and Format Factory. One problem I did have is that DVD Audio Extractor
divid

and hit decrypt. you'll get the dyrect stream demuxed. This software
doesn't give you the mp3 out of a dvd, but you get what's in there,
usually an ac3.

to do that I use dvd decrypter. It is not developped anymore but it does
