I'll have to second the responses suggesting Intel-based NICs. IMHE (In my humble experience) they tend to not have tiny nagging bus / dma problems that have plagued other cards I have dealt with (which, in turn, have resulted in hundreds of hours of troubleshooting). I've also been lazy and '
