I am looking for ways to monitor processes on the system in the long
term. It would be helpful to get a bigger picture about how the
individual processes of users contribute to load averages. It would go a
long way in diagnosing problems related to load.

Hello,
It seems that my idea was not read and in my opinion the discussion
turns in a wrong way. I don't believe that donations and/or a kind of rent will
solve our problem in long-term (as Theo says in a previous mail).

hi, it's called pkg_add
you can set the ftp path in a variable :
export PKG_PATH=ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/5.4/packages/i386/
then use man pkg_add (it's as simple as apt-get)
for example pkg_add -iv somepackage
