If you haven't done so already go to www.blindcooltech.com and download all
Mike Arigo's podcasts on using the mac.
They not only were extremely helpful but were what finally convinced me to try
a mac.

I've noticed since upgrading to 10.6.2 that pressing control+m twice no longer
seems to get me to the status menu.
Is anyone else having this problem or am I doing something wrong?

You received this message because you are subscribed to the Go
still on the
system menu for some reason.

Hello, I was looking on the web for a program equivalent to Exact Audio Copy
and found a program called Exact Lossless Decoder, XLD.
It appears to be accessible so far although I haven't tried ripping with it yet.
Has anyone else used this program?

Thanks. Actually I have installed it already but haven't ripped yet. That's a
project for tomorrow.

I don't think it is happening to everyone. I haven't noticed this behavior
yet (knock on wood!).

The biggest problem I've found using Jaws in Vmware is the lack of an insert
key. This hasn't been a major problem but I'm not using my mac on my job. If
I was I'd try the keyboard map utility someone mentioned on this list.
Unfortunately I don't recall its name but I'm sure someone has it.

Ok here is the utility I was referring to. It was in a message titled modifier
keys with Fusion.

Thanks Nick for the info.

Of course backup your vmware app first just in case!

Perhaps a dumb question but do you have your machine hooked to a monitor?
I tried the so-called remedy (hooking an adapter) to my mac mini and it still
didn't work. As soon as I reconnected the monitor the problem disappeared and
Safari is very responsive again.

Actually the one suggested on this list is the one I bought. It has s-video
connector and also another female connector of some type (not sure but it looks
like the old Din connectors used in Europe).
