I think too Apple is facing chip shortages as are most other companies and may
just not be able to deliver the quantity they would want. The other factor may
be that they are just not ready to update the 16 model quite yet as that group

Hi All,
So after a week, I can say that things are going really well with my MacBook
Air. I do have one problem which is annoying the daylights out of me. More
often than not, when I quit the Mac App with Command-Q, it hangs. It will
close eventually, but this does not seem to be normal behavior.
Hi Les,
I have had this problem for a while now, since way before getting the new Mac.
I have no idea what causes it or how to solve it, but I can tell you that
turning VO off, waiting a couple seconds and then turning VO back on usually
allows Mail to close. Sorry I don’t have a better solutio

I’m not going to install the update in the fall until there is proof that the

Hi everybody hope you’re doing well. I have a 2013 late I Mac running Catalina

Hi Donna,
I appreciate your response. Thank you. So it's not my machine! The odd thing
is that sometimes Mail closes as it should, other times, it does not. Kate
from this list indicated the same thing. I wonder why Apple has not fixed
this one. I think I'll write Apple Accessibility about this. T
Hi,
Yes, this does happen occasionally. I had a possible reason for it a few years
ago, but I can’t recall what I had come up with. In any case, 9 times out of
10 it will eventually quit itself. No need to force quit. It’s not hurting
anything.

This reminds me of the old focus issues with keyboard in JAWS. VO seems to lose

Hi Tim,
Just FYI, for me it’s more than occasionally. I’d say it happens at least once
a week. And les is right, it is annoying, and does seem like something that
apple should have fixed ages ago. Just my $.02. :)
Cheers,
Donna

Hi,
I’m not having this issue Dave. Where is this happening for you? There was a
bug with Big Sur and VO-shift-m on the Dock, but that has been finally fixed in
the latest update to Big Sur.

Hi Donna,
When quitting Mail, make sure to wait a while after sending or deleting

Hi Tim,
That’s a great suggestion. I am one of these individuals who immediately closes
down an app when I am finished using it. I think I will stop doing that with
Mail. I don’t mind an occasional hang, it’s just that right now, it’s been
happening more often than the mail app closing properly
Hi,
With respect to formatting the drive. It kind of depends on if it is already
formatted from the factory. If it is, it may be formatted and show up on your
Desktop, but be formatted in a format that is read only to the Mac. I suggest

Hi,
I’m passing my macbook air 2017 that currently has BigSur installed onto a
member of my family. I need to erase the hard drive and reinstall the
operating system. What format is best for this process i.e. APFS or MacOS
journaled?
Many thanks

Hi Dave,
Yes, I remember that now. You are still in Mojave. Well, a couple of things
to mention.
1. Apple will not update anything other than security patches for Mojave now.
So, contacting Accessibility will give you some possible assistance, but Apple
will not address an issue like that
Hi,
It should be APFS. MacOS 13.4 and up all use APFS. The installer should
actually make your drive APFS even if you’ve formatted it as MacOS Extended
(Journaled), but to save the hassle, just format it as APFS.

Hey Donna: have you reported it to Apple Accessibility? How do they know it’s

Hi,
There usually is not a lock in this pane, but maybe take a look down near the
bottom of this pane and see if there’s the lock to unlock in order to make

I believe what you want to do is select your view and then open the view menu

Be careful when erasing a Big Sur volume, especially on a M1 computer. The last

The only way I was able to change the display sleep value in battery
preferences and get it to stick was to boot into safe mode and do it from
there. I’ve never had to do that before.

Hi,
Yes, .mov and .mp4 are both fine for completed projects. Both are readable by
QuickTime and both are upload able to YouTube. In normal circumstances, Those
do sound like completed projects, so moving them to the external should be
fine. There may still be project components left within
