Hi,
I’ve been searching for an adaptor that would allow me to use my thunderbolt
external drives with macbook air 2017 that has usb ports only but I don’t seem
to have any luck. I’ve found usbC to thunderbolt adaptor or hub but not simply
usb to thunderbolt adaptor. I’m surprised: surely ther
Hi,
I may be getting a new macbook air with m1 chip. I wanted to ask what
differences there may be in voiceover or shortcut keys that I should be aware
of. Also, is it possible to run Windows 10 in Bootcamp on these new machines?
Many thanks
Andrew

Hi!
Yes I did.
THe nc works as it should.
What I was talking about was that the audio bandwithth is decreased when
speaking on zoom.
And if you take a phone call on the Mac the same thing happens.

Hi Andrew,
I can answer your second question. Boot Camp no longer exists and the max with
the M1 chip. As far as I know, running windows at this point would be very
difficult to accomplish. That could change in the future, but right now, it’s
my understanding that you really cannot do it.

Hi,
I’m confused. There is a Mini Display port that doubles as a Thunderbolt port
on the right side of the 2017 MacBook Air, so there should be no adaptor
required. On the right side of this model of MacBook Air, there is the SD Card
slot, a third USB A port and the Mini Display/Thunderbolt p
Hi,
I’m not aware of any accessibility changes with the M1 vs Intel MacBook Airs.
There are some changes in the way you access the recovery system, which have
actually made it more accessible, but no downfalls as far as I am aware.
As Les mentioned, BootCamp is no longer supported in the M1 ar
Like I said, switching the mic source will solve this issue. Maybe not
practical for FaceTime if you are going around the house, but I use this method
quite a bit if I’m listening to a presentation on Zoom.

tim, Thank you for this. I had no idea mini display port on that model doubles
up as thunderbolt. I’m sorry, I was asking many questions some on the new
mackbook air and one, this one, on the 2017 model which I’m going to be passing
onto another person. Hence the need for thunderbolt backup
Hi!

They will hear me better.

Hi,
It’s not necessarily that they will hear you better. The mic on the AirPods is
fine. It’s how using the mic AirPod mic instead of a different mic affects the
sound quality. For me, when using my AirPods normally, whether just navigating
around the Mac, or on a call, the sound does not ch
Hi,
What is the terminal command for moving files from one volume to another?
I know there is “mv” in there, but don’t remember the spaces and other stuff..
Thanks,

=Hello,
I was listening to the communication about Voiceover issues on Saturday and
somebody complained about the difficulty of using VO-command-space to get to
actions on the notifications. OF course one can always add commanders, but
these end up being limited in the keys you can use.
I know

No, it’s an external drive. Also, I should’ve specified that I want to move a
few entire folders and their contents. These are going from my dying IMac to
my external drive…
Thanks!

It depends if you want to duplicate the entire drive or just some folders. The
first can be done with one command, the second requires one or
more commands depending on their location and number of folders. It is easily
done in either case; I have done it many times. Use the cp
copy comman
A key commander can use all 26 letter keys and all numbers if you use the
numpad commmander version.

This is probably easier done with copy/paste in the finder. Generally, the "mv"
command does not work accross partitions, though it is possible that it has
been extended to do that.
If you want to copy the files then use
cp -R source destination
You might want to add the "force" option which if
OK yes, but there is still a need for scripting to work consistently.
