Hi,

I’m confused.  There is a Mini Display port that doubles as a Thunderbolt port 
on the right side of the 2017 MacBook Air, so there should be no adaptor 
required.  On the right side of this model of MacBook Air, there is the SD Card 
slot, a third USB A port and the Mini Display/Thunderbolt port.  I have seen 
situations where that port fails with some displays, but if all is in working 
order, then this port will work for you without any adaptor required.
