In Talking Goggles, most of the buttons display what will happen if you click
them, but the Flash button means that it's off when it says Flash off. That one
had me fooled for a while.

The install is accessible, but choosing the thumb drive isn't, unless you guess
and count. I had to get about one minute of sighted help to choose the thumb
drive, but the installation works fine once you load VO.

Still no excuse. You can choose the thumb drive from Startup Disk in System
Preferences. You should see something like, "Os X 10.9.2 installer" in the
startup disk group of radio buttons. If you don't then either it's the
incorrect thumb drive, no thumb drive inserted or other problems.

Once you install using the thumb drive, you'd have to reset your startup disc
to the hard drive at some point, yes?
In any case there are several ways to do it. the article points out one way.
You can also set your startup disc to the thumb drive, being careful to set it

I have kind of a strange situation with the Logitech 811 keyboard with my iMac.
It switches between devices fine and I find it very comfortable to type on.

Remember, Talking Goggles won't speak if your iPhone is on silent.
I usually hold the item to be identified in my left hand and the iPhone in my
right. I stand in front of a window and point the camera at the item.

Sounds like you received a Windows keyboard and seven Apple keyboard. The
windows keyboards have the option and the windows key switched over so that
causes an issue. I believe there's a setting within the keyboard settings to
rearrange the keys back now they should be. Best wishes. Jonathan

just use your normal selection keys shift down arrow for a line , option shift
right arrow for a word etc.

If you do a command-j, it will tell your current view. What you probably
want to do is go into Finder preferences with command-comma and in the General
pane, there is a popup menu that says, new finder windows open with. Change
that from all my files to the item that has your home folder
