Recently I have had occasion to compare the sound of my actual CDs juxtaposed
with the imported versions of those same CDs played on the same speakers, but
played from my 4th gen touch. There's a noticeable degradation in sound
quality when the music is played from my ipod. Just wonde
Hi Donna,
When you import CDS, you can choose to increase the bit rate to a higher
quality. I always import at 192 kbps as I can hear the degradation and it
bothers me.
You can choose all these settings in iTunes prefs under the general tab.
You'll have to re import your CDs again but maybe it's
Hey Lisette,
thanks. You know, I didn't look at the bit rate, and I should have. Much as I
would dislike importing my CDs again, the poor sound quality does bother me
quite a bit. One thing I wonder, though, I have iTunes match, so wouldn't I be
playing a higher quality recording, even if my
Hi Donna,
Sorry I don't use iTunes match so have no idea on that one.
I'm sure others will chime in.

Odd. I could initiate a call from the Contacts app and it worked fine. I just
expected the FaceTime app to allow me to call out as well as receive calls, but
I guess it works more like the iPhone. Well, at least now I know how to start a
call.

Hi all,
I'm happy to report that the folder actions script for notifying when a new
item is downloaded now works properly. This is a wonderful little utility that
Finder has. Basically, you find the folder you want, go to the finder menu, and
choose services submenu, then folder actions setup.
go to the voice over utilities then go to navigation then click on the mouse
pointer, then select moves voice over cursor

Hi Donna,
You can use iTunes match to get the higher quality recordings to play
but it is not automatic. you will be playing your local copy until you delete
them and then import them back from iTunes match. Here is a kind of amazing
example. I recorded many vinyl records and then pl
Hi all,
I was looking to see why Ava is pronouncing some words so oddly in 10.9.2, and
I discovered a popup next to each pronunciation item to choose an app. That is,
I can have a word spoken differently in a certain app. How long has this option
been around? Is it new, or have I just missed it
Hi Erik,
Oh, weird! It would never have dawned on me that I have to do that. So, how
do I go about it? If I delete the local copies, will the match copies import
automatically?
Thanks both of you, Eric and Lisette. I'll really be glad to have solved this.
Best,
Donna

Hi,
I believe it's been around since the beginning of the Pronunciation tab was
made a part of the VO Utility. Initially, not as obvious but there.

Hello Jonathan. I actually agree that the prices have come down a good bit. I
am getting the display purchased for me, so I can go for the larger display if
need be. I had hoped that you would have given me some of your wonderful
insight on pros and cons of the displays that I had listed. I curr
