Here's my take as a recent switcher:
Email: There simply isn't a mail client that comes close to Apple Mail for
responsiveness, stability or features. If you are a heavy email user, Mac is by
far your best bet now.
Media: iTunes is great on the Mac, but VLC media player is now pretty useful as
Thanks, have to check this out.
I'm still on a windows machine mostly, but we've got a mac book laptop
running leopard that we use. When we get our next desk tops, we're both
seriously considering macs all the way.

Hi Darcy,
Well I could not resist trying Chrome out. First thing folks will want to know

Hi!
Well, Mozilla is already aware and working on it. In fact, if you get the
Firefox source, you can enable some accessibility features and some of it will
work. It's pretty limited, but it's a step forward.

unfortunately, no. firefox and opera are both inaccessible when using VO.
I have sent off a small screen capture video to both mozilla )makers of

Google has started to make Chrome accessible. I've downloaded it, but haven't
played with it extensively, so can't really comment on how well it works. Here
is their accessibility page.

The mac should work well for all of those things, and you won't need to pay
extra to keep the screen reader up to date. And, since you use voiceover on the
iphone, you'll have a head start with using a mac.

My suggestion is to get a Mac before your windows machine dies so you can learn
the Mac at your leisure, while you are still productive in windows. That's
what I did anyhow, and it worked out great.

Hi Rick:
First thing is first, ifyou switch, you need to throw your Windows and Jaws

Hi Rick,
JAWS and Voiceover perform well as screen readers. they work on different
principles and comparing one to the other is like comparing a car to a
motorcycle. They both take you from A to B, but each requires a different
method of negotiation and navigation.

Hi, Rick,
The first thing to be aware of is that you have to throw all your Windows
knowledge of keystrokes, etc. out the window and start from scratch.
Personally, I love learning new stuff, but sometimes folks don't. That's the
biggest concept. Even so, you can still dual-boot with Windows sh
