Here's my take as a recent switcher:

Email: There simply isn't a mail client that comes close to Apple Mail for
responsiveness, stability or features. If you are a heavy email user, Mac is by
far your best bet now.

Media: iTunes is great on the Mac, but VLC media player is now pretty useful as
well. In general I find things are more likely to just play on the Mac than on
the PC, and I like the rewind, fast forward etc features in the built in player
in Safari.

Word Processing: Unless you use styled word documents or need to use word
tables, even Text Edit, the built in word processor, will do much of what you
want, and if not, Open Office Writer is great for creating documents, if not
for reading them, and there are other free word processors that have many
features. I haven't bought i\work at all.

Spreadsheets: Open Office Calc is free and would be easier for you to learn to
use than a modern version of Excel as it still uses menus, unlike the other!

Internet: Pros and cons here, it really depends how you use the internet. In
general, I can do the vast majority of things I could in JAWS. Many tasks are
much easier, some a little more keystroke intensive or at least finger
intensive, but there are plenty of sites that are vastly superior in Safari,
particularly anything with dynamic content, something Windows users seem to
moan about a lot, but Mac users don't, because it works so much better for us!
This was actually one of my reasons for switching!

There is no equivalent that is quite as easy to use as Webvisum, but I find
audio Captchas work a lot better for me on Mac than they did on PC!

Cheers
Dave
