Yes, this is normally what I use as well. However, sometimes the key strokes
just won't work. I have no idea why though and it's very randome, I just
suddenly cannot expand my email threads.

VO-backslash will open disclosure triangles when VO is focused on them.
Also, you can do the VO-mouse-click (VO-shift-space) or VO-space to have
VO activate them.

One thing I find works is to turn VO off, right arrow until the message opens
(try moving up and down to re-focus on the conversation if necessary) and then
turn VO back on. This rarely happens to me, but doing the above always fixes it
and is much easier than a restart.

I have my view headers set to custom so it only tells me what I need to know.

If nothing else works, I interact with the message info in the list and press
VO space when VO is actually on the disclosure triangle. This works every time,

Maybe try expanding the disclosure triangle. I have never had to do this myself
in mail but once or maybe twice in iTunes.
To do this:
Hold down the Voiceover keys and hit the "back slash" key. This is located
three letters from the letter L to the right.

Jonathan, I experiences from time to time as well. When this occurs, I am Lord
voice over with command F5. Then I start using the down arrow and right arrow
keys. Once the right arrow does not result in a dang, the problem is usually
resolved. And then reload voiceover with commander five and al

I normally have all my messages sorted in ascending order, oldest at the top
and newest at the bottom. When I expand a conversation, for some reason, all
the messages in that conversation are sorted in desc

I believe there are shortcuts you might want to look into, such as cmd-shift-k
to select all messages in a particular conversation. There are others in the
View menu under the select submenu.

By default, conversations are sorted in reverse chronological order, newest
message first. You can change this in the View menu I believe. I use left and
right arrow to open and close conversations.
