Hi.
I was just curious if talking dashboard is still available?
Thanks.

I have never gotten speakable items to work except for when an Apple
representative helps me.

Try turning Speakable Items off and back on again, or switch the listening
method from pressing a key to always on. I made a podcast about this and
dictation for www.applevis.com, but I don't know if it would be helpful or not.

Hi,
Are you speaking the commands to calibrate while your Escape key is pressed?
The Escape key normally needs to be down in order to both calibrate and to
issue commands unless you’ve set it differently in the System Preferences.

Yes, that was my first thought after the trouble a lot of us on the list had
getting this to work last month. It did not help, however.

This naysaying sound very elementary, but did you restart the computer after

Hi,.
It appears you are talking about dictation and this is different from speakable
items. That one allows to control the computer using voice commands but is not
very stable..

Well, the reason I made that suggestion is because I did it once, too. :) That

I have the exact problem that you have. There does not seem to be a way to

Hi Lisette and Les,
Are you guys sure you have the on button pressed in the Speakable items
settings? It's kind of hard to tell, so I would suggest going back in, and
pressing VO-Space to select Speakable Items On, then restarting your Mac.

You won't get a sound when you do this, you will only get one if the command
you give is understood. Also, make sure the input source is set to the
microphone you will be using.

I don't even get any sound when I press and hold my speak key. I get nothing. I
know I'm not alone in this but can't figure it out at all. It's not a show
stopper for me if this can't work on my machine, but it would be nice.

Hi Lisette,
VO actually makes it really easy. You'll know when it recognizes the phrases
you speak because it will make a little "whit" sound. When you get that sound
consistently after speaking the phrases in the list, you'll know you have it
calibrated.

Hi,
I'm also using the internal mic on my mba. I've noticed that using a keypress
to start a command avoids hanging the system as does using the constant
listening feature.
Beyond that, there might still be some kinks in this speech recognition bundle.
