I think I have seen that some Macs has issues with usb hubs and such things.

Finder will do the trick.

Finder has no window is not uncommon, though in this case may be
related. But I would suggest a couple thing. Don't use a bub. and test
each drive alone in Dish Utility and run First Aid on.

I am bored with it myself.
A few months ago, my drive that I used for Time Machine just up and died. So I
started with a new one. I sometimes connected this new drive with just a cable
and sometimes through a hub.
As far as the Time Machine drives go, it is possible you had to select your
backup again if you jumped from an earlier version of MacOS. This, though,
would depend on how far back your system was previously. I have had situations
in which I had to reselect my time machine backup disk for unk
Are the Time machine drives plugged in? You mentioned them so that makes things
confusing. No Finder issues for me, but you can always try restarting it from
the task manager.
