No problems asking. I don't recall whether pre-installed Lion on
machines came with DVD installers or not. Did your machine come with
some disks? If not, I think there are recipes for downloading the
installer using the recovery process.

Thanks, Chris:
I can grab that other external pretty easily. Would there be a way to come
by a Lion installer? My Macbook came with Lion pre-installed so I wouldn't
know where to get a hold of the installer. Is that a kosher question?

Hi, all:
This might be a very basic question, but I've never done this before. I want to

What I want to do is install Mountain Lion, but have lion around in case I ever

If I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion, without doing a reformat of my
whole hard drive, will it wipe all my data, and I have to migrate it all back
from a backup, or will all my stuff still be there? I'm still mired in
old-school thinking I'm afraid.

Ok, Les, how do you know when it's ok to turn VoiceOver on when you're
installing Mountain lion? I got my computer three days before Lion, and I did
my install of Lion at the Apple store. I mean, until you get VoiceOver going,
your computer has gone bye-bye for a while.

Your question is a good one. Let me assure you that you can do this. First,
you should do a complete backup of all of your data. Also, make certain your
programs are all up-to-date. You can check in the App Store by searching for
the word Updates to see if there are any updates available. I

I plan to install ML on Friday or Saturday, when I come back from being away.
However, my Mac, which I got 10 months ago, came with Lion installed. So I've
never had to install anything big like this on a Mac before
I'm not very good at doing this sort of thing, so I wondered if there wa
