Hi,
Just upgraded my MBP tonight to 10.13.1 and after reboot VO was very
broken; basically the VO keys weren't being recognized as a modifier
making VO mostly unusable. Given I use Karabiner for mapping keys into
VMs I wondered if something there was incompatible.
After a little digging I found
Have you looked at the Fusion keyboard options to see if some of the
default options are causing problems? I don't see the sort of issues
you describe.
One example - in Preferences->Keyboard and Mouse->Mac Host Shortcuts
there's a bunch of default key combos that will be sent to OS X and

I use Fusion with multiple VMs every day and I don't have an issue
reliably getting input captured by the VM.
What I do is use VO to move right along the buttons on the VM
interface. After the "full screen" button I get the name of the VM
read out and when focus is on that any keystrokes go to the
it was the first concrete confirmation I've seen
that the TouchBar has been VO enabled. Be interested how this works in
terms of productivity. When in apps that do use good old fashioned
function or escape keys its going to be a pain if we have to tap to
hear the key and then again to activate i

Hi,
Has anyone spent time with the new 12" MacBook? If so how are you
finding the keyboard?
Playing with one in the Apple Store I found it really difficult to use
-- the keys are a good size but there is very little space between
them and I was finding it actually a little hard to always detect

Hi,
Looking through the list I see several people are using the OS X
terminal on a regular basis. Is the terminal accessibility any better
in Mavericks than earlier versions?
I always found terminal accessibility a bit of a pain on the Mac and I
try it again every few versions. Last time around
If you weren't planning to use Fusion I'd say the 2GB new machine is
the best bet.
Unfortunately running Fusion means you need share the 2GB between both
OS X and Windows and with only 2GB you'll run out of memory very
quickly. At this point the system starts using the hard drive as

Hi,
The i7 comes in dual and quad core variants. Then add hyperthreading
and the OS will see 4 or 8 cores respectively.
In the MBP the highest spec is a dual core i7, the iMac goes to quad
core i7 and the Mac Pro goes to dual 6 core beasties.

Hi,
And any 64-bit-capable CPU you'll find on a Mac or PC these days can
run either the 32-bit or 64-bit versions of the OS.

Hi,
As mentioned before on this list the limitations of VO in Terminal are

iTerm has an accessible interface but once con
Hi,
I've been working on getting both Linux and Windows 7 VMs working as I
want within Fusion. I've of course hit the frustrations of keyboard
mappings due to the lack of a numeric keypad on the Macbook.
Though the work-arounds are probably going to be functional I can see
me getting frustrated
Hi,
If I understand you correctly you are trying to remote desktop into
the XP VM? If so then you'll also have to make sure that both XP and
the Mac are configured to allow connections on the right ports. In
addition check the network config on the VM, I think the default is
NAT and you probably
d perform your shell-based activities there.

Hi,
Every so often I try moving my terminal-related activities from either
a Windows or Linux box to the Mac. And each time I find the
interaction between VO and the Mac terminal sufficiently frustrating
that I give up for another 6 months.

Hi,
I've seen many people are using Windows VMs under Fusion -- it's great
to see virtualisation aiding accessibility.
Most people seem to be using Jaws though, anyone using Window Eyes in
a Fusion VM? If so any comments on any issues? I presume for
starters I'd need do some key mapping.

Hi,
Not wanting to state the obvious but you will need to install your
screen reader of choice within the Windows environment, be it a dual
boot under Bootcamp or a virtual machine under VMware Fusion. I know
there was historically some problems in getting Jaws to work properly
under Fusion becau
itude.
On the remaining point does anyone use any ncurses based apps such as Pine
or Lynx on remote machines and discovered a way for better cursor
tracking? Anyone raised terminal accessibility issues with Apple?
Many thanks,

Anyone got advice as to how I can make all this work better for me?

Hi to all who responded to my query about Fusion accessibility.
Thanks for the inputs, really good to hear the Fusion experience should be
a good one. I just bought my MacBook Pro 2 days ago so now it's off to
the VMware store.
