This is true, unless you have enabled the new Stolen Device Protection feature.
When Stolen Device Protection is enabled, then passcode bypass is disabled, and
only biometric authorization is allowed.

Oh, thanks, Brad. This is helpful. I may give it a try. Back in the day, I
remember that it seemed like I had to enter the passcode a lot. But that was a

You should not be required to enter a password on your watch every time you
check the time.
You need to unlock your watch after you put it on, and you are good until you
take the watch off.
Unlocking your watch can be done by entering the passcode on the watch, or
unlocking your iPhone.

Oh, that is very convenient. Not sure it would be worth putting a password on
my watch, though. I had one for a while, but got tired of having to enter it
every time I wanted to check the time. :)

Your Apple Watch is unlocked in advance. This is either done through entering a
passcode on your watch or unlocking your iPhone if you have that feature
enable. This suffices for authentication. No further authentication is needed
at time of transaction. Just hold your watch up to the terminal,
You must authenticate every AppleApple Pay transaction with either touch ID or
Face ID, which of course depends on which iPhone model you have.

The Apple Store app does not use Apple Pay.
It uses the default payment you have on file in your Apple ID.

You don’t need a pass word or authentication. I think the reason for that is
that When you put the watch on you need to enter the password, so that takes
care of the authorization.

Hi all,
Related to our discussion about Apple Pay, I’m curious about how it works on
the watch. It seems like it would be super convenient to just hold your wrist
up to the reader, except that you can’t authenticate with face or Touch ID. So
do you then have to enter your password every time?
Hi Janina,
I had to authenticate using Face ID. I believe you have to do that every time,
otherwise it wouldn’t be secure.

I received my Apple Card when I bought my M2 laptop. There's nothing
different about it, other than it's slightly thicker and slightly longer
and wider than other credit cards.

That’s interesting. Don’t know why that wouldn’t work, but then, I’m sort of

Apple Pay worked quite well for me yesterday, though it wasn’t an App Store
transaction. Have you ever thought about just adding money to your account and
using that to make purchases?
Oh, that’s really great to hear! I’ve been using Venmo & PayPal, both pretty
easy, but this gives another couple of options! Speaking of options, I
recently got a new iPhone and put a sturdy screen protector on it. Lo &
