Your Apple Watch is unlocked in advance. This is either done through entering a
passcode on your watch or unlocking your iPhone if you have that feature
enable. This suffices for authentication. No further authentication is needed
at time of transaction. Just hold your watch up to the terminal, and press the
side button twice quickly. That's it.

Hi all,

Related to our discussion about Apple Pay, I’m curious about how it works on
the watch. It seems like it would be super convenient to just hold your wrist
up to the reader, except that you can’t authenticate with face or Touch ID. So
do you then have to enter your password every time? That seems like it would
be a hassle, and also like everyone around you would be able to hear your
password. How do people deal with that issue?
TIA,
Donna
