I can tell you that startup as far as Fusion is concerned is much shorter in v6x than in v5x. Also, and this might just be my machine but Fusion keeps going even if there's a lot of disc activity. In v5 the mac would either delay in responding or report that Fusion is busy then ready. Again this

If you don't mind terminal you can use macports to install the ffmpeg package and do ffmpeg -i some_video.mov just_audio.mp3 which will extract the audio from the video and write it out as an mp3. Then you can use a script to do a batch. Something like this: for x in *.mov; do ffmpeg -i "$x"
