Alternatively, if you use dvips, many programs will output EPS.
Of course, if you use xfig, you can in

Many programs offer a possibility to export drawings as pdf-images.
These can directly be used in LyX when you use pdflatex to produce the
output.

Hi All,
What is available to include vector graphics in Lyx/Latex?
Example: generating a graph from data.
Currently I use gnumeric to compute the graph which make a svg
-> open in sodipodi->edit svg to add more information ->convert to png ->
insert into Lyx/Latex.

these things strikes me when working with lyx and the beamer class and
graphics in particular.
1) it would be really nice if there was an image preview when selecting
graphics to insert.
2) graphics do not always load when opening a lyx file -> images just say
"Not shown" until you have scroll

Hi there!
I´m using pdf-graphics, because it drastically cuts down the compiling

Thanks, Robert
Try using postscript images wherever possible - they will retain much

The way I do this is to include the options to not filter the image when
converting to pdf
In lyx under edit->preferences
select the conversion then converters tab and then select Postscript ->PDF
then in the converter box where it says ps2pdf place the line
"ps2pdf -dAutoFilterGrayImages=false
Hi!
Is there a possibility to enhance the quality of graphics when exporting my
lyx-document to pdf? When I export to html the qauality is much better but
unfortunately the layout (borders, reference ...) suffers.
Thanks alot,

José,
Many thanks for your help. I can get things to work now. The
sequence I use is
at command line: lyx foo.lyx
in Lyx: "File->Export->DOCBOOK"
at command line: db2dvi foo.sgml
followed by: dvips foo.dvi
In Lyx if I try "File->Export->PDF", db2dvi can't find the graphics file
