It was not a problem before since there was a
Lyx-20beta3-5-9-AltInstaller-Small.exe available but with beta 4 no luck.

Thanks so much for your detailed response Paul. I am actually trying to
include the tables that are output by SAS procedures into my Lyx document
rather than SAS source code itself. Do you have any workarounds for that?

Unfortunately, your problem is rather advanced.
You cannot importe a document class (*.doc).
You can only import tex documents with supported document class.
(LyX needs a matching *.
