Can anyone tell me how to install Lyx 2.0.0 beta 4 on my windows 7 system? It was not a problem before since there was a Lyx-20beta3-5-9-AltInstaller-Small.exe available but with beta 4 no luck.
I've downloaded 7-zip to extract the lyx 2.0.0beta4.tar.gz file and could do so but I do not know how to install it from thereon. Should Lyx not be accessible to the average person not familiar with python and additional installers etc? I've been using lyx for the past two years and find it very useful but I can imagine that a lot of people will be put off by battling to find out how to install the program in the first place. I don't come from a unix or linix background and are not familiar with tar files and the like. It would be nice if there is just a little note on the ftp server explaining how to install it on what system especially if there is no .exe file available. Marius
