I've just installed LyX 1.2.1 on my RedHat 7.3 laptop, using xforms 0.89-1
rpm. First time I tried it it worked fine, but since rebooting the
machine, all the widget text has a blank line at the start, making LyX
unusable. Has anyone seen this before, and is there a simple(ish)
workaround?

LyX-Menubars cannot show any Umlauts. RedHat uses the UNICODE, so maybe

Hmm, another reboot fixed the problem. Guess it's something to do with
the interaction between xforms and the Xserver, as restarting LyX didn't

It works for rectangles and math formula I put in there. If it doesnt
work for other stuff, it is easy to work around it: just put an
invisible box around the figure in case anything happens.

In Finnish, there are a lot of situations where one writes a hyphen
in the beginning of a word, after a word or between two parts of a
compound word even when the word fits completely on a single line.
As I undesrtand it, LaTeX doesn't by default hyphenate these word

Well, I figured it out.
I had to place the appropriate layout file in ~/.lyx/layout
I _had_ placed it in /usr/local/share/lyx/layout
which is where it was before. For some reason it doesn't
work to add new files there, I guess. Wonder why?
