It "works" in that it exits:
$ sh postats.sh eu.po >/dev/null
postats.sh: line 118: recode: command not found
I think that this is correct behaviour, since we require a web page that
validates as

Ok, Jean-Marc. The attached patch (to postats.sh only) produces
http://www.devel.lyx.org/~leeming/www-devel/i18n.php3
when run as
sh ./postats.sh *.po > i18n.php3
I guess this is exactly what we're looking for, no?

Nothing. So long as your "outputter" (Qt, gtk, XForms) can understand UTF-8

Angus,
forgive me that I step in so late, but I have a stupid question: What is
wrong with UTF-8 encoded .po files? KDE for example uses them for a long
time.
Georg
Jean-Marc,
what do you think of this approach/code? It enables us to generate a valid
UTF-8 encoded i18n.php3 with minimal human intervention.
If you're happy, then I'd like to commit this. (To the devel tree too of
course.)
The attached patch adds a comment of the form:

One mistake, and the simplest one to fix is that all tag argumetns
must be quoted.

In your defence, I find that these pages also claim to be something that
they aren't.

What does it mean? Is the HTML code not well-formed? Can you send me the
error message?
Michael
Michael, I just tried to validate this page (pressed the xhtml button). I'm
afraid the validator tells us we lied.
