I wonder if these font-handling problems are related to the Qt library
version. I don't recall reports of the problem with LyX/Mac 1.3.4,
which was linked with a very early version of the Qt library.

for example?
In my case, things worked fine for a month and then the problem
appeared with no obvious reason. Rebooting did not help.

I saw Bennett's recent post on lyx-devel regarding broken Mac math
fonts.I am currently having this problem, which appeared yesterday for
no apparent reason. I am running LyX 1.3.5 on OSX 10.3.4
I did a lot of experimenting last night (without success):
1. I moved all *.ttf fonts out of LyX.app

I'm trying to track down persistent problems with screen fonts in math
environments on Mac OS X. Even though the relevant .ttf fonts are
installed in the standard place in the LyX/Mac bundle
(LyX.app/Contents/Resources/Fonts), LyX is not consistently able to
recognize these fonts and use them
