What do you mean by 'acquire'? Does the problem survive to a reboot, for example?
In my case, things worked fine for a month and then the problem appeared with no obvious reason. Rebooting did not help.
Well ... what works reliably for me is to place these fonts into one of the Mac font directories. That violates the principle that we should keep everything within the LyX.app bundle, but it is preferable to having the wrong characters show up on screen.
I had the fonts in the Mac font directories, but still I had the display problem. I deleted them and recopied from LyX.app bundle but still no luck.
There are other reports of OS X corrupted font caches and there seems no reliable way to rebuild them, short of reinstalling the system.
