I think the FAQ has that covered https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCFAQ#The_iso_is_too_big_for_a_CD.2C_what_can_I_do.3F . You can also try copying them to a hard drive partition - I've booted a live CD that way, although the auto installer doesn't like it. I'm going to mess a bit more with that.

Is it a feature or a bug? In Lubuntu 11.10 (i386) when you shove an empty cd in the cd drive, you're asked if you would use the filemanager or xfburn. In 12.05 alpha powerpc, you're only asked if you would mount the empty cd in a new tab of pcmanfm. And up to that moment, the cd isn't viewn by xfbu
