this input is really valuable. As a developer of the loco directory, I
will propose setting team contact manually and disregarding the loco
team to the other developers to see about what implications this may
have on the app and the release of 0.1

welcome text saying go to #ubuntu for help, #ubuntu-COUNTRYCODE for
local info, and other basics?

How about leaving it as it is and force-join another channel? I would
suggest to force-join e.g. #ubuntu-local, and set that channel as a
relay for the local team.
I particularly like the mixed #ubuntu :)
