I had the same problem with my p1 ide RH6.0 and I solved the problem by
instaling a newer kernel.
The kernel that done the problem was 2.2.10 and I fixed with 2.2.16

That's one of those questions I hear quite a lot and I never know how to
respond. The question is so "Windows oriented", that regardless of what

Hi!
I have installed Mandrake 7.1 here at work. When I'm using a kernel which I

Hi
I want to limit the bandwidth of computers from a certain subnet through a
squid proxy server.
Alternatively I believe I an get most of what I need by limiting the size
of files those computers can download.
Is there any way of doing any of those two with squid? Any other proxy

Does anybody know of a public newserver in Israel that carries the linux kernel
mailing list? I want to be able to access it , but I can't actually subscribe and

If there aren't any, can somebody arrange to set one up somewhere?
Hello!
For console, you can always use telnet :)
Anyway, VNC should be doing what the GUI versions of pcanywhere does.
There's also vnc for windows (free), by the way..

Hello Doron!
First, Why 3.3.5, is 3.3.6 is out already ?
Anyway, you can get it from ftp.xfree.org I guess,
but it'll be the best to get it from the ftp of
your distribution, because it will fit your system better.
(i.e. from ftp.redhat.com if you use redhat)

Well.. The amount of Israeli Linux users in IGLU isn't that big,
I hope that in the near future more people will come to this channel,

SuSE website says this card (Teles-ISDN 16.3c BRI, once-supported as HiSax
type 14) is still supported. I once asked about it, but got no answer.
As of kernel 2.2.10, support for it was for some obscure reason removed from
the standard kernel (and from the enriched RedHat and SuSE kernels). Anyone

I frankly have no problem having my company pay either 35$ or 70$ for a
full-scale Operating System like this. I've paid this much for 6.4

Well, I prefer SuSE on RedHat. I don't think that most people choose their
distro because it's newer, but because

Hello !
When I tested the Mandrake 7.1, I saw that I could choose 'Hebrew' as the
default language. I expected to see any hebrew instructions/menus in
hebrew, but there weren't.
So what exactly is it doing ? Just installing the iso-8859-8 module into
the kernel ?

Some people on the list told me it might be a hardware problem, and indeed
Hey Yochai ;)
Ya Doof all you had to do is ask me on the phone ;)
Download "VNC" it's a multi platform PCAny alike system and is very fast
and reliable, we've been using it with School Sucks for years now.
The good thing about it is that intead of a client all you gotta do is use
your browser --
just kill the pptp session

when those things blow up it is usually just the power supply that gets
destroyed. I don't know what happened in your case (excuse the pun) so don't
rely on what I just said.

Hi.
VNC is an excellent tool. Probably the best cross-platform client there is,
especially with its neat features that include (but are not limited to) free
source, Windows/Linux/UNIX interoperability, lightweight, and other cool
stuff.
However, it's very important to note that VNC is very insec
