I know this is an old topic and various folks have
discussed this at length on this list. Nonetheless,
I'd like to throw in a few more remarks on the
subject.
It's true that the jazz chord names printed by
lilypond are weird from a jazz perspective and it is
also true that there is a mechanism vi

Hello,
I want to ask if there is (better) method of utilizing Lilypond to typeset

I am playing around with the tag feature so that I can print out a
master score for a piece and the individual instrument music. In order
to follow along on the hymn I want to include the lyrics for all four
verses in the master score and the individual instrument music. Below is
the master lilypon

Use \tag. See "multiple editions from the same source".

Any reason I shouldn't install 2.7.19 for testing purposes?

Best,

What aspects do you have in mind? In the Regression Test document, you can
find an example "key-signature-scordatura.ly" that shows how to typeset a
non-standard key signature, which often appears in scordatura scores.
For the actual string tuning, I guess there are many different notational

Hi everybody!
Can anybody give me a short example on how to make the staves inside a
system to take a forced vertical extent?
The old style like in 2.6.X semms to be changed or broken. A thread in
the bug-list couldn't help me. The same for the program reference.
Thanks in advance,
Thies

Of course, it probably would be better for *everything* to be

The duration of the skips is handled exactly as the duration of ordinary
notes. If you insert some bar checks, you will see that the durations
are probably not what you want:
dynamics = {
s\mf s4. | \setTextCresc s\< | s2 | s4\f s\> s4\!
}
Since the last duration specified above the dynamics is

You haven't told us what operating system you use. However, if you

saving UTF-8 from Emacs. It works in Linux, but I haven't tried
to investigate what the problem is in Windows. Maybe someone

Hello.
I'am typing on Sonata for Violin and Piano A-major from G.F.Handel for
Mutopia.
here is the actual package:

As you can see I have the violin-parts twice.
To avoid senseless pagebreakings i have to make a lot of \break
Would it be hard to allow for \markup commands inserted directly
among the chords? That would provide a simple solution for all different
kind of requests of special chord notation. The syntax of the solution below
looks like a real hack.

Of course you can fool LilyPond into beleiving that two words should
be treated like a single syllable. Either enclose them within double quotes:
"two words"
or use the fact the a single underline is printed like a space:

I couldn't see scordature description in documentation, so i think, there
isn't this capacity in LilyPond, so...
How to insert the string number and any letter under the first clef (or under
time / key signature)?
Something like this:

Why not approach the problem the other way around and modify the
frontend of LilyPond so that
\command "string"
is always treated internally as
\command #"string"
I think this provides a cleaner solution, at least for the end user.

The notational convention for songs is to write two slurred (or tied)

you have to decide if you want your typeset piece to be a guitar piece

to choose wh
